THE DESIGN THINKING

A clear hierarchy.
A deliberate first impression.

The accent is visually memorable without carrying any required information. The body uses a straightforward hierarchy that supports both short and longer descriptions.

Best suited to
Design, service, and client-facing careers
Content sequence
Profile → Experience → Skills → Education
Personalization focus
Show how you understood a client or user need, what you did, and what changed. Keep references to confidential client material anonymous where necessary.
One thing to check
Avoid adding extra icons to every line. The visual system works because supporting details remain simple.

WHEN TO CHOOSE CONTOUR

Choose the layout for the story you need to tell.

Contour adds a modest accent around an otherwise readable career history. Choose it for a little visual character when your evidence already works in a conventional sequence. Do not use the accent to imply a skill level or category that the text never explains. Read the page without color and check that the same facts remain easy to find. A useful final pass is to compare the first sentence of each role: the design can distinguish entries, but the wording must explain how the work differs.

01

Client work with a decision to explain

A service or consulting example becomes useful when the reader sees the need and your response. Contour leaves room for that context. Describe the constraint that shaped the option you proposed, especially when the final outcome involved several people or depended on a client decision.

02

A role built around trust and clarity

Trust is better shown through accurate explanations, realistic commitments, and completed follow-up than through adjectives. Select an example in which you clarified uncertainty or kept a promise manageable. The layout’s quiet detail can support a professional tone without turning the resume into an advertisement for your personality.

03

A portfolio that needs a restrained introduction

If your work samples are visually rich, the resume can provide a calmer account of ownership and purpose. Use a clear link and describe the project in ordinary language. Contour’s small accent does not need additional icons or a second visual system to connect the document with creative work.

A FICTIONAL WORKED EXAMPLE

A client coordinator explains a realistic option

In this fictional case, Rosa coordinates interior-project materials for clients. Her draft says she always exceeds expectations, but the strongest example is a delayed item that required a clear alternative. She uses Contour to explain how she checked timing and presented options for approval. The story shows useful client communication without claiming that she controlled the supplier or the client’s final decision.

THE STARTING POINT

Exceeded client expectations through excellent service and problem solving.

A MORE USEFUL VERSION

Compared available material options after a supplier delay, confirming revised dates and presenting the approved alternatives to the client before the installation plan was updated.

The revision names the uncertainty, the checks, and the communication. It avoids an absolute claim about every client’s experience. Contour gives this kind of grounded example enough room without requiring a dramatic result. Rosa can explain at interview which options were feasible and who approved the change, while the resume remains concise and understandable to someone unfamiliar with the original project.

FROM SAMPLE TO YOUR RESUME

Give every section a clear job.

01

Choose a need with a clear response

Identify a client or user concern you understood through specific information. State the need briefly, then explain what you did. Avoid turning the example into a long personal story. The useful evidence is the professional response and the decision or next step it enabled.

02

Keep ownership in the sentence

Distinguish checking, recommending, coordinating, and approving. Client-facing roles often connect several parties, so a broad verb can overstate control. Use wording that shows how you helped the work move forward while preserving the responsibilities of specialists, suppliers, managers, and the client.

03

Review the tone and visual balance

Read the profile and bullets for absolute claims, inflated adjectives and responsibilities that need clarification. Replace them with evidence where needed. Then inspect the preview for unnecessary symbols or overlong contact details. Contour works best when the small accent remains secondary to an open, readable body.

THE FINAL EDIT

Keep the design working for your content.

01

Turning a client case into a testimonial

Do not invent praise or imply a rating that was never recorded. Describe the action and outcome you can support. A well-explained response to a difficult request is useful evidence without presenting a fictional client quotation as an endorsement.

02

Adding a symbol to every supporting fact

Repeated icons can create a second hierarchy that competes with the layout’s simple accent. Keep contact, skills, and education information recognizable through text. The reader should not need to interpret a visual legend to understand ordinary employment details.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Questions about Contour.

Can I use anonymized client examples?

Yes, when the information is appropriate to share and cannot identify a confidential matter through combined details. Explain the project type, your contribution, and the relevant constraint without publishing private client material.

Do service roles need numerical achievements?

Not every contribution needs a number. A clarified option, dependable handover, or resolved information gap can demonstrate judgment. Use measures when verified, but do not replace a useful service story with an invented satisfaction percentage.

Is Contour suitable without creative work?

Yes. The accent is decorative, while the body supports ordinary professional history. It can suit client coordination, service, or other roles where a clear account of needs and responses is more important than a visually elaborate portfolio.

PUT THE IDEA TO WORK

Describe customer judgment without exposing the customer

Fictional practice case: Leni coordinates private events at the fictional Glasshouse Rooms. A useful example involves clarifying access requirements before an event. Her Contour draft includes unnecessary details about the client and guests, while barely explaining the practical coordination she performed.

  1. 01

    Keep the operational question

Describe confirming access arrangements and communicating the agreed setup to the venue team. The relevant evidence is the process Leni coordinated, not the personal circumstances that made the arrangements necessary.

  2. 02

    Use bounded language

State which details she checked and who approved the final plan. Identify the guest requests she coordinated and the specialist decisions she referred to the responsible colleague. A thoughtful account can remain concise and respectful.

  3. 03

Let the open body carry the example

Contour's small heading accent leaves room for ordinary explanatory text. Use that space for the coordination sequence rather than adding icons for empathy, service, or problem solving that would contribute no evidence.

THE CHECK THAT MATTERS

Remove names and personal information that do not change the professional meaning. Then check that the example still shows what Leni did. If privacy details carry most of the drama, the sentence needs a clearer account of her work.
